This is one of the most unique places we've ever been lucky enough to stay.

The Belle Tout Lighthouse, is a 1834 lighthouse perched on the south down cliffs near Beachy Head in the South Downs National Park. It has now been converted into a bed and breakfast with several rooms of varying sizes spread across its 4 floors. The majority of the rooms have pretty spectacular 360 views over the surrounding landscapes, but the absolute jewel in the Belle Tout crown in the Latern Room, a glass domed room right at the top. This has now been converted into a communal space with comfortable seating and a 360 balcony to watch the sun rise and set from what has to be the best view point on the south coast.

Belle Tout is not overly swanky but it is comfortable, surprisingly spacious and run by lovely staff. Whats more it is owned by an ex chef who whips up a delicious choice of breakfasts in the morning.. .a breakfast, needless to say, with a view.

Pro Tip: If you're looking for somewhere to eat dinner in the evening, the nearby Eight Bells pub is a great option.
