Weinia Falls is a striking waterfall located in the West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, near the border of the South West Khasi Hills. Set amidst dramatic cliffs and dense greenery, this waterfall is known for its powerful vertical drop into a deep gorge along the Kynshi River. The scenic beauty of the surrounding terrain makes it one of the most picturesque falls in the region, especially during the monsoon months.
How to Get There
Weinia Falls is located near the village of Nongkhnum, around 14 km from Nongstoin, the district headquarters of West Khasi Hills. From Shillong, it's approximately 120 km (about 4–5 hours) by road. After reaching Nongkhnum or nearby villages, you can drive close to the viewpoint area. From there, it’s a short walk to the edge of the gorge, where you’ll find several vantage points to view the falls. Some local paths also lead down toward the river, though they can be slippery and are best navigated with a local guide.

For the Curious
