Directions

Manga Island is a one-of-a-kind lodging spot on Tashirojima, one of Japan’s famous “Cat Islands.”
Located on a hill overlooking the sea, it features quirky, dome-shaped cottages designed by manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori.

You can stay in these fun, cat-themed cottages—or bring your own gear and camp at one of the nearby tent sites. The area is peaceful, surrounded by nature, and of course—plenty of cats roam nearby.

Reservations for Manga Island can only be made through the official Japanese website, so using Google Translate or a browser with auto-translate is helpful.

Booking Instructions:

  1. Visit the official site to book (JP only):
     https://www.city.ishinomaki.lg.jp/cont/10452000b/-kanko/-kankomap/d0040/20130224150619.html

     - Cottage
     - Tent site

  3. Select your dates and fill out the form with your name, contact info, number of guests, and any requests.

  4. Submit the form.
You’ll usually receive a confirmation via email (may take a day or two).

  • Payment is made on site, in cash only.

  • No cats are allowed inside the cottages, even if they try to sneak in!
