My favorite beef-tongue restaurant in Sendai—and honestly, it’s a must-try if you're visiting the area.
They specialize in thick-cut gyutan (beef tongue) grilled over charcoal, which gives it a smoky, juicy flavor that’s completely different from the thin slices you might have had elsewhere. The texture is incredibly tender with just the right chew.
There are several Rikyu locations throughout Sendai, so it’s easy to find one near the station or in popular shopping areas. The most popular order is the gyutan teishoku (set meal), which comes with oxtail soup, barley rice, and pickles—simple, satisfying, and very Sendai.
If you're new to beef tongue, this is the perfect place to try it!
