We took a break here. There's a dinosaur here, and an elder who loves to take photos for you, haha.
Anyways, locals visit the Shimanami Kaido islands in the summer for the beautiful sandy beach so if you come around July and August, there may be a lot of beach goers.
About:
Shimanami Beach is a small, quiet spot along the Shimanami Kaido that most people visit as a short stop while cycling or driving between islands. Access is bike-friendly but parking is limited, and facilities are minimal so bring water, snacks, sunscreen and some cash; public toilets may be sparse. The sea is usually calm and shallow, great for wading, a quick swim or sunset photos, but there are no lifeguards so watch kids and tides. Plan for early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat and crowds, and take all your rubbish with you to keep the place peaceful for locals.
