This is a well hidden ski resort in Akita next to the much more popular Appi Kogen.
In terms of scale and overall quality, Appi Kogen has the upper edge but if you are a beginner, this ski resort isn't bad.
There's also a tour around this ski resort where you can actually rent out the entire ski resort. https://akitahachimantai.com
About:
Akita-Hachimantai is a small, rural ski area best suited to families and intermediate skiers, with gentle runs, occasional steeper lines and reliable Tohoku snow from about December through early April. You should plan to get there by car or a resort shuttle since public buses are infrequent; winter tires or chains are essential. Rentals and lessons exist but are limited, so bring your own boots and a helmet if possible, and buy lift tickets at the hill or as part of a lodging package. Expect basic facilities, bring some cash, check snow and road updates before you go, and finish the day at a nearby onsen or a cozy minshuku for the full rural experience.
