Located in Arthur’s Pass National Park, Devil’s Punchbowl is a spectacular waterfall, tumbling down a 130 metre rock face with a loud roar that can be heard throughout the valley. The waterfall is fed by snowmelt from the surrounding peaks. The trail includes swing bridges, with viewpoints of the falls until you reach a viewing platform, close to the waterfall.

Devil’s Punchbowl is signposted from SH73 accessible from Arthur’s Pass Village. From the carpark, follow the well-maintained trail to a viewing platform at the base of the falls. The walk is approximately 1 hour return.

Remember: The track can be slippery, particularly after rain, so wear appropriate footwear and be cautious.

Personal tip: The spray from the waterfall is insane, and the roar of the falls makes it impossible to have a conversation. You may want a raincoat!
