This trip deserves to be shared separately because it was one of my favorite trips, and I want to repeat it as many times as I can.

The beauty of this trip, and trust me on this, is arriving late. This place is very touristy, but when everyone leaves on the last cable car, the magic begins. The atmosphere changes dramatically. Nature returns to its natural state. Marmots come out, and we saw them everywhere—running through the snow, jumping in the water. We even saw two ibexes.
The only downside is that you have to hike back down to Grindelwald, which I found tough but would choose every single time. Here is my Outdooractive hike from First to Grindelwald.

🚗 First, you have to arrive in Grindelwald. Expect this place to be crowded. We parked here, but we had to walk to the station for 10 minutes, which is not bad at all.
🚡 Second, you have to take a cable car up to Grindelwald First which takes 25 minutes. Book your tickets online here. It costs 72 CHF return per person. I bought the tickets online to avoid the crowd.
🏔️ Once you're up there, enjoy the views, walk around, and walk through the famous cliff.
🥾 Then walk to the lake. The whole trip from the First to the lake and back to the First is 6 km, 2 h, 150 m in elevation. It took us 35 min one way without stops.
We returned to First and then hiked back down. There was also a route from Bachalpsee straight down, which would save us 15 minutes, but I wanted to return to First. I don't regret it because the mountains at the top were something special.
🥾 The hike from First to Grindelwald: 8.9 km, 2.20 h, 1137m descent. I have to admit, it was tough. My legs were suffering, but I enjoyed it and would do it again and again. It is so worth it.
