If you can only do one hike, make it this one. It has everything: a cable car ride, an easy trail, and beautiful views the whole way, plus a scenic train ride back down.
This trail is located in the Jungfrau Region in the Bernese Oberland.
The hike starts at Männlichen, which you can reach by mountain transport from either Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen.
From Grindelwald
Arrive at Grindelwald Terminal and park your car here. Parking is expensive, so expect to pay 15–20 CHF.
Buy your tickets at the counter and tell the attendant your plan. They can print a ticket for the full journey. Ask for the cable car to Männlichen, then the hike to Kleine Scheidegg, and a train ticket from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald Grund. Grindelwald Grund station is a short walk back to Grindelwald Terminal. The ticket costs 74.60 CHF, and discounts apply.
From Lauterbrunnen
Take the train from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen. Walk through the village to the cable car to Männlichen. Then hike to Kleine Scheidegg and take the train back to Lauterbrunnen.
In 2026, this trip is free with the Jungfrau Travel Pass and the Bernese Oberland Pass.
I also recommend the Royal Walk at the top of Männlichen: a short 1 km uphill detour to the Männlichen peak with amazing views (100 m elevation gain).
