Peyto Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Banff National Park. It’s a vibrant, turquoise blue glacier-fed lake situated 40 km north of Lake Louise, making it a very popular destination for photographers and sightseers alike. Although it may get crowded at times due to its popularity, viewers can expect an improved viewpoint, regarded trail, 126 regular parking spots and 11 RV spaces, and a year round restroom for added convenience. The brilliant colors of the lake come from "rock-flour" which reflects light, giving the lake its characteristic blue shade. Visitors can either take a walk up to the Peyto Lake Lookout for the famous view or even take a hike down to the lake for a more private experience. For the adventurous, a trip to Observation peak or Bow Summit will surely not disappoint with its stunning views of the lake.
