Donde nace el agua. Ubicado en el extremo sur de la laguna, ofrece aguas increíblemente transparentes y una energía mucho más relajada que el centro de Bacalar.
Xul-Há: The Source of the Seven Colors
Located at the southernmost point of the lagoon system, Xul-Há (meaning "where the water ends" in Maya) is a true sanctuary of peace. This is the very spot where the underground cenotes feed the lagoon, providing the crystal-clear water that eventually flows down to Bacalar.
Why it’s special:
Purest Waters: Since it’s the source, the water here is exceptionally clear and fresh. It’s the lifeblood of the entire "Seven Colors" lagoon.
Ultimate Peace: Because the passage from Bacalar to Xul-Há is very narrow, large motorboats rarely make it here. This keeps the area free from the noise, waves, and crowds of the main town.
The Best of the Lagoon: It is the ideal place for Sailing or Kayaking. Without the wake of large boats, you can glide over the water in absolute silence, appreciating the mangroves and the stromatolites in their most natural state.
Founder’s Tip: If you find Bacalar too busy, come to Xul-Há. It’s where you can still feel the "old lagoon" vibe. It is my favorite spot for a sunrise paddle—watching the first light hit the source of the water is a spiritual experience.
Vibe: Serene, untouched, and crystalline. Best for: Meditation, long swims, and eco-friendly water sports. Don't forget: To hire a local sailing guide or rent a kayak to explore the narrow channels that connect to the rest of the lagoon.
