Karumba was honestly one of those hidden gems that surprised me in the best way!

Despite being tucked away in the far north of Queensland, it’s got a charm that’s hard to beat. One of the most magical things about Karumba is its sunsets over the ocean—a beautiful sight that seems almost unreal, given the town’s remote location.

If you're into fishing, Karumba is a paradise. You can fish amongst the crocs (just don't get too close to the edge of the tinny/ shallows), and the local waters are teeming with barramundi and other catches. For a laid-back experience, head to the Sunset Tavern, where you can enjoy a cold drink with a breathtaking view. It’s the best spot to socialise; I actually rocked up alone and met some local mates who took me out night fishing, and the next night I met a lovely couple who took me fishing on their boat - what a time!!
