Wilsons Promontory, or "The Prom", is one of those must-visit spots that just screams Aussie paradise. It’s got everything: pristine beaches, lush rainforests, epic hikes, and wildlife galore – you’ll feel like you’ve stumbled into a David Attenborough doco.

Start your adventure with a hike up Mt Oberon. It’s a bit of a leg burner, but the views at the top are totally worth it – think sweeping vistas of turquoise water, golden beaches, and rugged coastline. For a cruisier stroll, head to Squeaky Beach. True to its name, the sand literally squeaks underfoot, and it’s ridiculously photogenic with its bright white sand and granite boulders.

If you’re into more of a challenge, the Sealers Cove walk is an absolute cracker. It’s about 10km one way, and you’ll go through lush rainforest before arriving at a secluded beach that feels like a reward for your efforts. Tidal River is the hub of The Prom, and the Pillar Point lookout is a quick hike from there with breathtaking views.

Camping-wise, the Tidal River campground is the main spot. It’s got all the facilities you need – toilets, showers, and even a general store for supplies. Just make sure to book ahead because it gets super popular, especially in summer. For something a bit more remote, there are hike-in campsites like Little Waterloo Bay, where you can wake up to the sound of waves.

The Prom is part of a national park, so sadly, it’s not pet-friendly, but you’ll probably forget about that when you’re surrounded by wombats, kangaroos, and emus doing their thing. Don’t forget to pack for all kinds of weather – it can go from sunshine to rain quicker than you can say, “Where’s my rain jacket?”

Whether you’re hiking, swimming, or just soaking in the vibes, Wilsons Prom is an absolute gem that’ll leave you feeling like you’ve had a proper escape into nature.
