Golden Ears Peak – Golden Ears Provincial Park, BC
Golden Ears Peak is a strenuous and rewarding alpine adventure that delivers jaw-dropping views of Pitt Lake, the Fraser Valley, and surrounding mountain ranges. It's a long and steep trek best suited for experienced hikers or overnight backpackers looking for a true challenge. It's one of my fave hikes ever for the amazing sunrise and sunset we got on a warm September morning.
Whether you're going for a long day hike or camping overnight, the summit ridge offers dramatic scenery and a sense of true wilderness. 📸 The best photo spots are at the campsite! With sweeping views in every direction and cloud inversion magic if you're lucky with the weather.

Out & back
The trail begins at the West Canyon trailhead in Golden Ears Provincial Park. It climbs steadily through dense coastal forest, past Alder Flats, and eventually opens into the alpine after steep switchbacks and rugged terrain. The final approach to the summit includes exposed ridge sections and some light scrambling over rock and scree.
Camping Info:
There are designated backcountry camping zones near Alder Flats and Panorama Ridge. Campsites are primitive, with no tent platforms and basic pit toilets. Fires are not permitted. You must carry a valid backcountry camping permit.

Day-Use Vehicle Pass:
From mid-May to early September, a free day-use vehicle pass is required for weekend and holiday access unless you have a backcountry camping permit.
Things to Note:
Theres only a little water stream at the top in late season. So check All Trails recent reviews for notes on how the water is flowing, and pack your water filter
You can get an inversion in this valley if you're lucky! But sunrise and sunset views were also some of the best I have ever seen.
