🌉 Gilsfjörður Bridge
🗺️ How to Get There:
Drive along Road 60 in the Westfjords, connecting the northern and southern regions of the peninsula. The bridge spans Gilsfjörður and is one of the longer fjord crossings in Iceland. There are safe pull-off areas before and after the bridge where you can stop to fly a drone or photograph.

📅 Best Time of the Year to Visit:
Year-round.
Summer offers the clearest views and best lighting conditions.
Winter can be dramatic with snow-capped mountains, but exercise caution if roads are icy.

📸 Photography Tips
Best time of day:

  • Morning or evening light for fjord reflections

  • Midday with clouds for graphic shadows and symmetry

  • Twilight for long exposure light trails on the bridge

Recommended gear:

  • Drone for aerial top-down and side-profile compositions

  • ND filters for smooth water

Composition ideas:

  • Fly the drone directly above the bridge for symmetrical minimalism

  • Shoot from the shoreline to frame the bridge against the fjord

  • Capture vehicles crossing for a sense of scale
