🪨 Lóndrangar Cliffs

🗺️ How to Get There:
Located right off Road 574 on the southern coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, between Arnarstapi and Hellnar. The main parking lot is signposted and provides direct access to a short walking trail that leads to the viewing platform. A second trail leads from Malarrif, offering views from a different angle and a chance to spot seabirds.

📅 Best Time of the Year to Visit:
Open year-round. Spring and summer bring rich colors, nesting seabirds and wildflowers. Winter offers a moodier scene with fewer visitors and more dramatic skies.

📸 Photography Tips

Best time of day:
Sunset is ideal, especially with a western glow behind the sea stacks. Golden hour from the south can also light up the cliffs. Overcast skies work well too for contrast-heavy compositions.

Recommended gear:

  • Telephoto lens to isolate Lóndrangar against the sea

  • Wide-angle for capturing cliffs, stacks, and coastline together

Composition ideas:

  • Frame the sea stacks with foreground grass or lava for depth

  • Use the cliffs curves as leading lines

  • Long exposures work well for smoothing out the ocean during windless conditions
