🗺️ How to Get There:
Drive along Road 76 on the Tröllaskagi Peninsula, then turn onto Road 767 just west of Hofsós. Continue for a few kilometers until you spot a small wooden gate and a turf path leading up the hill. There's a basic gravel space to park on the side of the road.

📅 Best Time of the Year to Visit:
Late spring to autumn (May–September) offers the greenest turf and clearest paths.
Autumn also brings golden tones to the surrounding landscape, adding warmth to the turf and stone textures.

📸 Photography Tips

Best time of day:

  • Golden hour or soft morning light enhances the turf colors

  • Works well in overcast weather, bringing out moss and stone textures

  • Late evening sun can light the hills beautifully in summer

Recommended gear:

  • Wide-angle lens for capturing the full structure and surroundings

  • Telephoto for isolating details in the turf, crosses, and woodwork

  • Drone optional, overhead shots show its symmetry and isolation

Composition ideas:

  • Frame the turf roof against the sky or surrounding hillside

  • Use leading lines from the path or fence posts toward the church

  • Capture close-ups of the door carvings and turf layers

  • Drone shots work well top-down or showing the church nestled in the landscape
