🪐 Red Mars-Like Landscape
🗺️ How to Get There:
From Road 54 on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, turn onto Road 55 heading inland. After a short drive, look for a gravel road turning left across the lava field (there’s no official signage). Follow this track carefully until it ends at the red-soil area. Road conditions vary, a 4x4 is recommended, especially after rain or in winter.
📅 Best Time of the Year to Visit:
May to September offers dry conditions and better access. In late summer, the moss is most vibrant, enhancing the color contrast. Avoid during heavy rain or snow due to slippery track and risk of getting stuck.
