Three Days in the Once “Forgotten” County
My personal favourite county in Ireland (after my home county of Antrim, though I might be slightly biased there 😉).
This is a place where you experience Ireland at its finest: raw, real and wonderfully unpolished. Not the showy postcard version but the Ireland you imagine when you think of charm, character and that rugged, rough around the edges beauty that is loved the world over.
Starting from the northern tip, you will weave in and out of the Wild Atlantic Way, occasionally heading inland to uncover some of the county’s very best hidden gems. This is a place where the landscape leads the way. Towering sea cliffs, empty beaches, winding mountain roads and tiny villages that feel untouched by time.
Some parts of this itinerary do require a bit of physical activity but that is the magic of Donegal. It is an outdoors county through and through. Whether it is cliff walks, island views, coastal hikes or bracing Atlantic swims, this is where you come to breathe deeply, move your body and feel completely connected to the elements.
Donegal does not shout about itself.
It simply lets the landscape do the talking.
