This is a popular spot for canoeing, kayaking and sailing with two beaches for swimming and plenty of opportunities to explore the picturesque lake by boat or paddle board. Keep in mind Lysterfield Lake can get busy as it's in close proximity to Melbourne but worth a visit if you're looking for a new place to walk not far from Melbourne.

I did the easy 5.8km Lysterfield Lake Circuit which starts off from Horswood Road and loops around the lake using several trails including Lake circuit trail, Casuarina trail and Lake Track. There are nice views of the city and outer suburbs plus varied terrain a mix of formed tracks and off-road 4WD. Make sure you head down to the lake pontoon while you're here, you might even see kangaroos grazing by the waters edge!
