Located just outside Cochrane (roughly 40-45 minutes from Canmore), home to 55+ wolfdogs and spanning 160+ acres. This non-profit facility provides a safe, expansive home for rescued wolfdogs. It's an amazing opportunity to learn the differences between these beautiful animals vs domestic dogs, while supporting an awesome conservation cause.

🐺 WOLFDOG INTRO TOUR

Unlike the general 'Sanctuary Walk' ticket. The Wolfdog Intro Tour takes you inside a secure viewing platform directly inside one of the main wolfdog enclosures. A knowledgeable guide gives you an informative 30 minute presentation on wolfdog behaviour, rescue history, sanctuary details, and wolf facts, while allowing you to photograph the animals up close with no visual barriers and fences in the way.

🚶 GENERAL SANCTUARY WALK

If you prefer to explore at your own pace, the general Sanctuary Walk ticket gives you access to the outer pathways surrounding the large enclosures. You can read the educational plaques, spot the various packs roaming through the trees, and catch the daily 'Wolfdog Wisdom' staff presentations. The price for the general Sanctuary Walk is typically $37-$40 CAD per person. No pre-booking is required for the general sanctuary walk (pay on arrival).

The sanctuary also has a nice gift shop packed with wolf themed apparel, local crafts, and souvenirs, with 100% of the proceeds going right back into funding the food, veterinary care, and enclosure maintenance for the rescued animals. I actually got one of my favourite hoodies here!

✅ TIPS FROM DEV, LINKS & SAFETY

• Dress Code: To keep the animals calm, visitors are asked not to wear any real fur products or dangling clothing items. Faux fur and standard leather/down coats are totally fine. Also, avoid wearing strong perfumes or colognes.

• Dress for the Weather: All tours and pathways are fully outdoors and run rain, shine, or sub-zero winter cold. There are no indoor viewing areas for the animals, so bundle up with heavy layers, gloves, and boots if visiting during the shoulder or winter seasons.

• Leave Your Pets at Home: Absolutely no domestic dogs (or any other pets) are permitted anywhere on the sanctuary grounds - including inside your parked vehicle. The presence or smell of outside dogs heavily stresses the resident wolfdogs and their territory, and staff monitor the parking lot strictly.

• Strict Age Restrictions: Because wolfdogs are highly sensitive to small children, the sanctuary enforces rigid age limits for safety. The absolute minimum age to step foot on the property is 6 years old (no infants or toddlers allowed). While the Wolfdog Intro Tour requires a minimum age of 10 years old.

• Parks Pass: No National Parks Pass or Kananaskis Pass is required to visit the sanctuary itself, as it is located on county land outside of the park boundaries.
