The world-famous Moraine Lake!🏞️
An UNREAL spot I’ve come to tonnes of times. I personally never get tired of seeing that deep, azure-blue water, framed by the 'Valley Of The 10 Peaks' (Mount Tuzo, Neptuak and Deltaform to name a few). The backdrop is amazing, so good it take the spot above Lake Louise in my opinion!
Like the Lake Louise shoreline, Moraines shoreline is also an easy walk with big payoffs. Sweeping views when you are up on 'the rockpile' and all the classic insta shots, lol. I try to make it out here at least once a year. Unforgettable, and perfect for all first-time Rockies visitors. If you are coming for the first time, don't miss this one out!

🛶 CANOE RENTALS
Just like Lake Louise, you can also rent canoes at Moraine Lake from summer to early fall. Canoes fit up to 3 people. As of 2025, it’s $160 (+GST) for 60 minutes. Pricey like Lake Louise sure, but again, another unforgettable way to take in that blue water and the Ten Peaks from the middle of the lake. As well as getting a better view of Mount Temple.

🏠 MORAINE LAKE LODGE
The ultimate Moraine Lake flex. A bucket-list lodge sitting right on the shoreline with that windows screensaver of the Ten Peaks. Staying here means you get Moraine Lake the best way possible - quiet sunrise vibes before the crowds roll in, and peaceful evenings after they leave. ✅ TIPS FROM DEV, LINKS & SAFETY
Book the Moraine Lake shuttle early. Private vehicles are not allowed on Moraine Lake Road. For more details, be sure to check my Travel Tip section on: Lake Louise & Moraine - Parking & Shuttle Access
Moraine Lake is a high bear activity area! I've seen a couple of grizzly bears in this area. Always keep your distance from wildlife, carry bear spray, travel safely.
Due to avalanche risk, the road to Moraine Lake is closed seasonally. Typically, from early October until June.
See Parks Canada for the latest National Park trail conditions.
