The world famous Moraine Lake Lodge🏕🏞️
First things first - I haven’t stayed here myself (it’s wayyy out of my budget… but yeah, just look at this place). I’ve seen it more times than I can count though, and every time I walk past it or go inside for a snoop, my brain does the same thing “yep… maybe one day.”
I’d love to stay here and summit Mount Temple one day. That would be the dream scenario, no question. A guy can dream lol!
It’s sitting right on the shoreline of Moraine Lake, with the Ten Peaks towering behind it like a literal screensaver. And the best part might actually be the timing... If you’re staying here, you get Moraine Lake before the crowds of thousands flood in, and you get it again after they leave. If you’ve ever been here during peak summer chaos (the pain lol), you already know why that matters.
The vibe is definitely more “cosy mountain cabins” than a flashy resort lodge. Handcrafted log furniture, balconies with lake views, soaking tubs… and they keep it old-school with no TVs or phones in the rooms, which fits the vibe perfectly. You’re not here to stare at a screen. You’re here to stare at that lake!

🛶 CANOEING
While you’re here, get yourself out on a canoe and explore Moraine from the water (it’s included with the stay after all). The canoes can fit up to 3 people, and it’s an unforgettable way to take in that blue water and the Ten Peaks from the middle of the lake. Even better, you also get a better view of Mount Temple towering above at 3,544 metres high. It’s a beast!
ㅤ
🥾 GUIDED HIKES (massive bonus)
Also included with your stay here are free guided hiking programs (if you want them that is), which would be quite cool. A good way to get a proper hike in without overthinking, plus you get local knowledge, insight, and history of the area with the experience.

✅ TIPS FROM DEV, LINKS & SAFETY
Though access to the Moraine Lake road is closed to the public - guests staying at the Moraine Lake Lodge are of course allowed access through the gates to drive up.
Pack layers. Moraine mornings can be cold even in summer, then it warms up fast once the sun hits the valley.
This place sells out insanely fast. Moraine Lake Lodge has very limited rooms and it’s one of the most iconic locations in the Rockies. If you want it, do not wait to book.
Moraine Lake is a high bear activity area! I've seen a couple of grizzly bears in this area. Always keep your distance from wildlife, carry bear spray, travel safely.
My suggestion?: Wake up early, grab a coffee, head up the Moraine Lake Rockpile, slowly watch the sunrise, then get out for a canoe while the water is still and glassy. After that, chill at your own pace while the crowds of thousands start plowing through.
