Famous waterfall, minutes from the town of Banff💦
Cascade Falls is one of the most accessible waterfall trails in Banff. Just a few minutes from town and with minimal elevation gain. This trail brings you up close to a beautiful cascade flowing down the lower slopes of Cascade Mountain.
The trail is short, with a cool rocky backdrop, as well as vast open views of the Bow Valley - across the town of Banff, then stretching past the Rundle Mountains towards Canmore. It’s a great vantage point with a lot of visual payoffs.
I usually take people here when we’re short on time. They’re always surprised by how scenic it is for such a quick walk. On a personal note, I think the trail is at its best in the fall season... BEAUTIFUL golden aspens at the base, reddy-yellow shrubs up near the actual falls themselves. If you are short on time in the fall season, definitely give cascade falls a shot if you have an hour to spare!

There are bridges, picnic tables, washrooms, ponds, and mountain views. The perfect spot to go to before or after the Cascade Falls trail, especially in summer when it's hot. ✅ TIPS FROM DEV, LINKS & SAFETY
Slippery sections near the waterfall.
The grassland at the base of the falls here is a high bear and elk activity area - Always keep your distance from wildlife, carry bear spray, and travel safely.
Cascade Falls is within an avalanche zone in winter. Only visit if you have avalanche safety knowledge and gear. IF you do go, always check the current avalanche forecasts before going and know the risks. You can find up-to-date avalanche information and warnings at: Avalanche Canada's site - The only people typically venturing to these falls in winter are experienced ice climbers. For general hikers, this area is not recommended in winter due to the avalanche risk and lack of trail maintenance.
