Moraine’s side twins🏞💙

Consolation Lakes is a forest valley hike, tucked just behind the famous Moraine Lake. In contrast to the crowds at Moraine, this trail is a quieter escape that leads to two stunning glacial lakes, framed by a bowl of peaks. The path winds through thick forest, across avalanche slopes, and into a spacious, open basin filled with boulders and some of the most tranquil scenery in all of Banff.

If you're already visiting Moraine Lake, this trail is a must-do in my opinion. It’s easy enough for most hikers but still rewarding, with just enough distance and variety to feel like a proper escape. On calm days, the reflections in the lower lake are absolutely stunning. Bring a snack, take your time, and enjoy one of Banff’s quieter treasures.

Consolation Lakes is a high bear activity area! Travelling in groups of 4 is highly recommended (and when in effect - so much so that it is sometimes mandatory by law). Always keep your distance from wildlife, carry bear spray, travel safely.
