"The Wolf’s Head”🐺💙 - as the locals sometimes call it..
Peyto is easily in my top five lakes (honestly, I’d pick it over Lake Louise), and it wows me every single visit. There is a reason I go every year - you get maximum reward for minimal effort!
The colour of the lake varies throughout the year (depending on the season, glacial melt, sunlight etc).. Early in the season, just after the ice thaws, it's a beautiful, deep electric blue colour. That deep blue colour typically only holds for a few weeks before it changes to a shining baby-blue. Then as the summer season goes on it changes to a glowing turquoise!
The trail itself is a quick, easy stroll I’ve taken friends and family to countless times. Those sweeping peaks and that unreal glacial glow (especially in summer), make it the lake I’m most excited to show people coming to see the Rockies for the first time!
