Metcalfe Cascades is fed by the Coliban River and is characterised by rock pools, little caverns and crevices that form as the water tumbles over layers of bedrock.

How to get there:

Access the walk to the cascades from the carpark at the end of Cascades Road (unsealed). There are only picnic tables here and limited parking spots. It's a 1.5 hour drive from Melbourne and only a 20 minute drive from Kyneton.

Elise's Tips:

The cascades are best viewed after heavy rain if you’re looking to see more water activity, however if you just want a place to rock hop, relax in the the sun and swim in the larger rock pools, you could definitely get away with visiting at warmer times of the year. This is a great spot to come with children as there’s lots of exploration to do, just be mindful of slippery surfaces and depth of rock pools.
