Basin Creek Falls is an impressive waterfall after heavy rain with multiple streams falling down the rock face. There's also a deep plunge pool to the side of the falls that you can take a dip in.
The 2.6km return track to the falls is a steep gravel downhill walk before turning rocky as you come into view of the Snowy River. There are a few picnic tables near the waterfall that overlook the river.
How to get there:
Located in Snowy River National Park, access the walk to the waterfall from the gravel car park at the end of Old Basin Road in Snowy River National Park (unsealed). It's a 5 hour drive from Melbourne and only a 20 minute drive from Buchan.
Elise's Tip:
I recommend wearing sturdy shoes on this walk as the trail is a little steep and uneven the closer you get to the falls. Bring your bathers to take a dip in the plunge pool to the side of the falls.
