Dunnottar Castle, a medieval fortress perched on a rocky headland in Scotland, has a rich history dating back to the Early Middle Ages. It played a key role in Scottish history, from hiding the crown jewels from Cromwell's army to hosting visits from royalty like Mary, Queen of Scots. The castle's ruins, spread over 3+1⁄2 acres, offer stunning views of the North Sea and include a tower house and a 16th-century palace. Restored in the 20th century, Dunnottar Castle is now open to the public, inviting visitors to explore its historic grounds and imagine life in a bygone era.
