🌡️ Geysir Hot Springs Area

🗺️ How to Get There:
Located along Road 35, about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Reykjavík, Geysir is part of the Golden Circle. There’s a large parking lot across from the geothermal field and visitor center. From there, it’s a 2-minute walk to reach Strokkur, the currently active geyser, which erupts every 5–10 minutes.

📅 Best Time of the Year to Visit:
Accessible year-round.

  • Winter: Great contrast between steam and snow

  • Summer: Long days, colorful moss, and clearer skies

  • Early morning or late evening visits help avoid crowds

📸 Photography Tips

Best time of day:

  • Golden hour or cloudy days work well to soften steam highlights

  • Winter evenings add mystery with fog and low light

  • Early morning for minimal foot traffic and clean shots

Recommended gear:

  • Wide-angle lens to capture erupting Strokkur and surrounding pools

  • Telephoto lens to isolate textures and boiling surfaces

  • Tripod for long exposures of steam movement or night shots

Composition ideas:

  • Position Strokkur centered or off-center just before eruption for drama

  • Shoot top-down patterns of bubbling pools and sinter deposits

  • Capture steam interacting with sunlight for ethereal effects

  • Use reflections in hot spring pools if conditions are calm
