This is the only easy access to see Westfjords only glacier. It’s a relatively small one on Iceland standards, but it’s the northernmost one and one who began shrinking later than other glaciers in Iceland. Now it’s shrinking at record speed. Measurements in September 2021 revealed that the glacier edge moved 60 meters from the previous year. Leave your car at the parking lot and hike through rocky terrain towards the glacier. Please don’t walk on the ice as it’s full of cravasses and can thus be dangerous.
