The tranquil village of Boletin lies a few kilometres north-east of Mitrovica at the foothills of the Kopaonik Mountains in the middle of a charming landscape. Alongside Lipa and Zhazhë, it is one of the three villages in the otherwise exclusively Serbian-populated municipality of Zvecan that is inhabited only by Albanians - around 350 of them. This repeatedly causes disagreements with the municipal administration, which penalises the Albanians there.

Boletin is home to an important sight, the former residential complex of the Boletini family. The Kulla was the birthplace of the Albanian freedom fighter Isa Boletini. Originally, there were two residential buildings on the strategically located site, one for men and one for women, of which only a few remains of the walls still stand. The fortified houses were built in 1897 and 1898 and many politically important decisions were made there, which ultimately led to the proclamation of the Republic of Albania in 1912. In 2004, Boletini's descendants began restoration work with the support of the Kosovan Ministry of Culture. Today, the entire estate is a very well-kept visitor centre with an extremely informative museum.
