Below the fortress hill, you pass the Church of the Holy Savior (Alb.: Kisha e Shën Spasit). According to ancient writings, part of it, with its medieval altar frescoes, dates back to 1333-1335. In 1836, work began on an extension in the style of the time, but apart from the foundation walls and the bell tower, it was never completed. At that time, it was mainly used by Vlachs, a Serbian nomadic or pastoral people.

The architecture consists of a combination of natural and brick stones with terracotta elements, ceramic crosses, and windows with semicircular arches. The cultural monument and especially the valuable frescoes were severely damaged in 2004 but were restored in 2010. The church is not accessible to the public for its protection.
