Invercauld Bridge, located over the River Dee, is a striking 3-span structure built in 1859 by J F Beattie. This wide segmental arch bridge replaced the Old Military Bridge and features rounded cutwaters and a simple coped parapet. Funded by Prince Albert, it served to divert the main road from Braemar to Ballater away from the Balmoral Estate for increased privacy for the Royal Family. The bridge's design with roundels in the spandrels adds to its charm, making it a prominent landmark on the route.
