Sentinel Pass hike is one of the most beautiful hikes in Banff National Park and undeniable one of the best hikes in Moraine Lake. It starts from the shores of Moraine Lake, rises up to forest comprised of larch trees with views of Valley of the Ten Peaks, and continues up a steep mountain pass that separates Pinnacle Mountain (3,070 m) and Mount Temple (3,544 m). The amazing views only get better once hikers reach the top of the Sentinel Pass trail; taking in scenic views of Paradise Valley on the north side and aerial view of Larch Valley and almost all of the 3,000 m peaks of the Valley of the Ten Peaks on the south side. Not to mention, the Grand Sentinel- an impressive quartzite pinnacle on the northern slopes of Pinnacle Mountain- can be seen up close. Finally, the reward of reaching the top of the Sentinel Pass is that you can bask in 360-degree scenery, with Mount Temple and Pinnacle Mountain adding to the breathtaking experience.
