This little beach is a dreamy spot, perfect for a relaxed swim or surf. Tucked beneath the Cape Byron headland, Wategos is known for its crystal clear water, gentle waves, and laid-back vibe. Like most of the beaches in Byron Bay, its not uncommon to spot dolphins playing in the surf here. There is also a walking track at the end of the beach that will take you up to the Byron Bay Lighthouse for some more incredible views. 

Wategos is not as big as the other beaches in Byron so it can get crowded during peak times, especially in summer. If you are going to visit during these times, I’d recommend getting there early so you can secure a park.
