All throughout tropical northern Queensland you'll no doubt come across sugarcane fields as can find them everywhere. What I didn't realise is how pretty they look when they bloom. They typically bloom in early May through June and have a beautiful white/pink flower that sits high above the field. As we were driving around, the sugarcane fields were filled with thousands of these incredible flowers which looked so unique.
When we were heading towards our free camp down the road at Belmunda Road Freedom Camping (which is a great free camp to stay at if you plan on seeing the kangaroos at sunrise on Casuarina Beach), we noticed the fields explode with colour during sunset. The white flowers caught the soft pink sunset hues and lit up the whole field with a dreamy display of colours.
This location I've pinned is the exact spot I took these drone photos with the fields and mountain in the distance. They don't always bloom, but to have the best chance, visit during May and June. The harvesting season for sugarcane fields start from July to November so during these months the fields will be completely empty.
