Flying over Uluru and seeing it from above is a once in a lifetime experience. We booked our helicopter flight with Professional Helicopter Services and it was incredible. There are a few different options to choose from, and we went with the 25-minute Uluru and Kata Tjuta experience. It wasn’t until I saw Uluru from above that I truly understood why people call it the heart of Australia. Sitting in the centre of the vast, flat red landscape, the majestic rock stood out in all its beauty and felt like the beating heart of the outback.
The flight was such a unique way to experience the Australian outback, with views you can’t get from the ground. After circling Uluru, we headed towards Kata Tjuta, which looked completely different from above. From the air you can see each individual dome from different angles, giving you a whole new perspective on the area.
If you can, I recommend booking the sunset tour, as I can only imagine how magical it would be to watch the landscape turn golden from above. Tours start from $205 per person for a 15-minute Uluru only flight, up to $450 per person for a 35-minute Uluru and Kata Tjuta experience, depending on what suits your itinerary.
