Cable Beach is one of Broome’s most iconic locations, stretching 22 kilometres along the coastline with soft white sand and stunning turquoise water. It's the perfect place to spend a warm afternoon swimming, sunbaking or relaxing under the palms.
Cable Beach is best known for the famous camel rides that happen at sunset. Watching the long line of camels walk along the shore as the sun dips below the horizon is a truly magical experience, whether you're seeing it from the sand or riding on one of the camels yourself.
If you have a 4WD, you can drive right onto the beach and find your own secluded spot for the day. Just make sure to check the tides before heading out as they change quickly in Broome and it’s easy to get caught out and bogged in rising water.
The grassy foreshore area is also a favourite hangout in the evenings, especially with travellers and van lifers. We loved how lively it was, with people playing music, sharing drinks and watching the sunset over the ocean.
