Florence Falls is an idyllic twin waterfall that cascades into a crystal-clear swimming hole, perfect for cooling off during those hot Northern Territory days. The entry area is shallow and easy to walk into, but if you're after a proper swim, just head a little further out into the deeper water.
The base of the falls is a bit rocky and not quite as spacious as Wangi Falls, so it can feel a little crowded during peak times. Most people stick to the metal stairway area, but if you scramble over the rocks to the left, you'll likely find a more peaceful spot in the shade and an easier place to enter the water from the flat rocks away from the crowds.
It’s just a short 10-minute walk from the carpark down a set of steep metal stairs, but the views along the way are stunning. Since Florence Falls is one of the park’s most popular spots, I recommend arriving before 10am to beat the crowds and enjoy it while it’s still quiet.
To enter Litchfield National Park and any other NT national park, you’ll need a parks pass. These can be purchased online and are valid across most Northern Territory parks. A day pass is $10 per person, or you can grab a two-week pass for $30 per person.
If you're planning to bring your drone, make sure to apply for a permit online in advance, as it's required for all NT national parks.
