Wangi Falls is one of the most iconic and popular spots in Litchfield National Park. This stunning double waterfall flows year-round and is surrounded by lush greenery and towering cliffs. The swimming hole is deep, and the perfect place to cool off in the Top End heat. At sunset, the cliffs catch the warm glow of golden hour, making it feel even more magical.
It is just a short and easy walk from the carpark to the base of the falls. There are also a few trails that take you further around the area, including a walk to the top of the waterfall. To the right of the pool, there is a raised viewing platform which offers a unique view of the entire waterfall.
Although the falls flow all year, swimming is usually only permitted during the dry season between May and October, when water levels are safe and clear of crocodile risk. During the wet season from November to April, swimming is typically not allowed due to flooding and safety concerns.
You will need a parks pass to enter Wangi Falls and any other Northern Territory national parks. Passes can be purchased online and are valid across most NT parks. A day pass costs $10 dollars per person, or you can opt for a two-week pass for $30 per person.
If you are planning to fly a drone in any of the Northern Territory’s national parks, you will need to apply for a permit online ahead of time.
