Boab trees are one of the most iconic sights in the Kimberley and are unlike anything else you’ll find in Australia. With their thick, bottle shaped trunks and gnarled branches, they stand out in the dry, red landscape and make you feel like you’ve stepped into another world.
You’ll see these scattered all across the Kimberley so there's plenty of opportunities to snap some photos with them, although this one in particular caught our eye along King River Road. Set against the dusty plains and glowing in the golden light, it made for some of the most magical sunset photos from our trip. We’ve pinned the exact spot on the map so you can check it out too if you're interested.
If you're up for an off the beaten path adventure, you can also pair this spot with some photos of the King River which you'll be able to see from here with a drone. We accessed this spot in our 2wd van, although the road was very corrugated. You'll be fine if you just take it slow, although I wouldn't recommend trying if it's been raining as the road can get muddy.
