Cardwell Spa Pool is a hidden gem where you can swim in natural rock pools while surrounded by lush rainforest. There's a stack of small rocks that forms a circle to create the spa like area and the water around the pools is a deep blue colour. The colour actually comes from the minerals in the water, which shift between shades of bright blue and milky turquoise depending on the light and recent rainfall.

The pools are best visited during wet season (around May to September) as this is when the water levels are higher. If you visit around summer months the pools may be dried up with no water flowing through.

Once you turn off the main highway, the road becomes unsealed. It's well graded and you can reach the pools with any 2WD. Access is super easy and you can pretty much park right at the pools, no hiking required! The pools have a mix of shallow and deeper spots, perfect for cooling off on a hot day. This peaceful escape is great for a unique and refreshing experience in the heart of tropical North Queensland.
