James Price Point is one of the most rugged and jaw-dropping stretches of coastline near Broome. Located about an hour north of town, this remote spot feels like another planet where vibrant red cliffs meet turquoise ocean in the most unique way.
Not only is it an incredible place for a day trip, but it’s also one of the most beautiful campsites we came across on our travels. You can camp right on top of the cliffs with views you won't find anywhere else and the best part is, it’s completely free.
It’s a remote location, so make sure you’re fully stocked with water, food and whatever else you might need. We learned the hard way that the flies and mozzies can be intense out here, so definitely bring insect repellent.
You will need a 4WD, but we've seem some vans and 2WDs make the trip too when the road conditions aren't too rough. We did the drive in our Toyota HiAce and just dropped the tyre pressure a bit to handle the rougher corrugation. The road in is long, corrugated and sandy in parts, and the conditions can vary a lot depending on the weather.
Before heading out, it’s a good idea to check recent updates on WikiCamps or ask at the visitor centre to get a feel for the road conditions. If you’re not confident with off-road driving, it might be best to give this one a miss, but if you’re up for the adventure, James Price Point is absolutely worth it!
