Discovery Resorts is essentially a large caravan park and is one of the closest accommodation options near Kings Canyon. Although their prices can be on the high side, it’s still a great place to base yourself while exploring the area. They offer a range of options from camping sites to budget rooms and luxury glamping tents.

We decided to treat ourselves to a luxury stay in one of their glamping tents after a big couple of days and loved our time here. The view from the room was beautiful with the ranges in the distance, and it had everything we needed to feel comfortable and relaxed.

If you’re on a tighter budget, the campsites are also a great option as you’ll still be close to the general store, restaurant, and nearby attractions.

Just a short walk from Discovery Resorts is the Luritja sunset viewing platform, which offers amazing views of Carmichael’s Crag and the famous George Gill Range. From the viewing platform, you can also enjoy a drink from the bar and watch the incredible sunset shift the colours of the outback. This is also the starting point for the Light Towers installation by Bruce Munro.
