Mossman Gorge is a beautiful introduction to the Daintree Rainforest and it holds a lot of cultural significance to the Aboriginal community. Along the gorge you'll come across ancient granite boulders, crystal clear cascading water and a view of the mountains from deep within the lush jungle canopy. The walking trails will make you feel as if you're walking through Jurrasic Park. It's a 2.4km Rainforest Circuit Track which winds through the towering trees, takes you along suspension bridges and stunning lookouts. You can also do a guided Dreamtime Walk where the local indigenous people will lead you through the rainforest and teach you about their traditions and ancient stories.
While access to the gorge itself is free, most people use the shuttle bus service from the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre. Otherwise you can park at the centre for free and walk along the narrow road towards the gorge entry. Tickets for the shuttle cost $14.50 for adults, $7.25 for children, and $36.25 for a family pass. There is a shuttle every 15 minutes, starting at 8:00am and finishing at 5:00pm.
Swimming at Mossman gorge isn't always recommended as the currents can be quite strong and the water levels can rise. There have been incidents here in the past, so make sure you follow the advice of the staff at the gorge's visitor centre.
