Upper Stoney Creek in Byfield State Forest makes for a great day trip from Yeppoon, being 35 minutes from town. The creek is a picturesque swimming spot surrounded by lush rainforest. From the parking area, you can either swim in the main swimming hole next to the grassy area or walk along one of the tracks beside the creek to find your own secluded spot. The clear, freshwater creek flows over smooth rocks, creating natural swimming holes and small cascading waterfalls, perfect for cooling off on a hot day. The water was very cold when we visited but so refreshing! There are even a few rope swings along the creek that you can use to jump into the beautiful blue water.

There's also a campsite across from the day use area if you wish to stay longer. Upper Stoney Creek Campground offers unpowered sites with basic facilities, including toilets and picnic tables. It's a peaceful spot for camping, with the sound of running water creating a tranquil atmosphere. Campsites cost $7.25 per person and can be booked online through the Parks QLD website.
