The Great Barrier Reef Drive is one of the most scenic coastal drives in Australia and an absolute must if you’re road tripping through Tropical North Queensland. Stretching between Cairns and Port Douglas, the road winds along the coastline with beautiful ocean views on one side and lush rainforest mountains on the other.

There are plenty of spots to pull over along the way to soak up the views and take photos. The whole drive has such a tropical feel with palm trees, turquoise water, and mountains surrounding you the entire way. It’s especially beautiful around sunrise or golden hour when the light hits the ocean and coastline perfectly.
