Radical Bay is a secluded tropical paradise on Magnetic Island with inviting turquoise waters and towering palm trees that line the beach. It’s one of the island’s most stunning and peaceful beaches, perfect for a relaxing swim after the hike or just soaking up the island vibes.
To get there, you can hike from Horseshoe Bay (about 50 minutes one way) and return the way you came. This route is quite steep and rocky so wear good shoes.
Alternatively, you can hike along the unsealed Radical Bay Road from the Forts car park which will take you past the other bays such as Arthur Bay, Florence Bay, Radical Bay, Balding Bay, and finally ending up at Horseshoe Bay. This route is about 5.4km total and will take roughly 2 hours to complete.
The bus (route 250) from the ferry terminal stops at Both Horseshoe Bay and the Forts Junction making it very easy to access the hike.
If you have the time, I suggest doing the longer hike as you'll be able to see the other incredible beaches that Magnetic Island has to offer. No matter which option you choose, the effort is well worth it for this hidden slice of paradise!
