Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bowen is a sheltered cove surrounded by large granite boulders, palm trees and is one of the most popular beaches in the area. The calm, clear water makes it perfect for swimming and snorkeling. There’s a fringing reef close to shore, so you can spot colourful fish and coral just by swimming out a short distance. It has all the features of the tropical islands found in the Whitsundays but the best part is that it's located on the mainland so you don't need to a boat to access it.
If you're visiting during the warmer months (between November and May) it is a good idea to bring a stinger suit or you can rent one from the nearby resorts as there can be jellyfish around.
The beach is backed by a grassy park with picnic tables and BBQ facilities, making it a great spot for a relaxed day out. There's also a short walk nearby you can do to the Rotary Lookout which will only take 5 minutes and offers stunning views over the bay and the coastline, especially at sunset.
